NYC's Metal Curb Specialists
A metal curb, known in City specifications as a steel-faced concrete curb, is a concrete curb with a steel plate covering its exposed face. That steel takes the impact that would otherwise chip and crumble the concrete: truck tires cutting the corner, buses pulling into the stop, plow blades scraping the gutter in February.
- Steel-faced curb installation, repair, and replacement
- Corner curbs, curved runs, and pedestrian ramp tie-ins
- Zoning and DOT requirements checked before we quote
- Permits filed and handled from start to finish
What We Do as NYC Metal Curb Specialists
We focus on one thing: curbs with steel facing. That focus is why we can tell you in one site visit whether your property needs a metal curb, whether the existing facing can be saved, and what the job will actually take.
Whether you’re a homeowner with a damaged corner curb, a property manager with a loading dock that trucks have destroyed, or a contractor building to approved plans, the work is the same to us: build it right, build it to spec, and don’t leave a hazard behind.
Steel-Faced Concrete Curbs
What they are, where the City requires them, and how they compare to plain concrete and granite.
Commercial & Industrial Curbs
Loading docks, truck routes, and parking entrances where steel facing pays for itself.
Corner Curbs
Corner quadrants need steel facing in every zoning district, and they take the most abuse.
DOT-Compliant Workmanship
Cut steel edges ground smooth, correct anchoring, and clean joints between sections.

What Our Customers Say
We needed several damaged metal curbs repaired around our property, and the team handled everything professionally. They explained what could be repaired and what needed replacement, and the finished work looks clean and solid.
Does Your Property Need a Steel-Faced Curb?
In New York City, the curb type isn’t always up to the owner. Under DOT’s sidewalk and curb design guidelines, plain poured-in-place concrete curbs are permitted only in R-1 through R-6 zoning districts. Steel-faced concrete curbs are required in M and C districts and in R-7 and above. On top of that, steel facing is required at all corners, in every district, including the residential ones where plain concrete is otherwise allowed.
There are exceptions worth knowing. Existing granite curbs are generally replaced in kind, and new curbs in designated landmark districts are granite. And even where plain concrete is permitted, steel facing is often the smarter choice, since DOT’s own design guidance notes that steel facing is typically used where there’s significant vehicle traffic, such as bus and truck routes.
We check the requirement that applies to your address before we quote, so you don’t pay for the wrong curb and fail inspection.

Built to NYC DOT and ADA Standards
DOT Standard Details
Steel-faced curbs built to the City’s standard details for dimensions, materials, and anchoring.
Smooth, Safe Edges
Exposed cut steel surfaces ground smooth, so no sharp edge is left for tires or pedestrians.
Pedestrian Ramp Transitions
At flush curbs, ramps, and cut-throughs, the steel facing is finished the way DOT’s ramp details require.
Correct Reveal & Drainage
Curb height and gutter line set so water reaches the drain instead of ponding at the curb.
Metal Curb Services Across NYC & Westchester
We install and repair steel-faced curbs throughout four boroughs and Westchester County, on everything from quiet residential corners to industrial truck routes.
Curb requirements change from block to block, because they follow zoning. A street with a commercial corridor on one side and R-5 housing on the other can have two different curb rules. We check before we quote.

Metal Curb NYC FAQs
Is a metal curb the same as a steel-faced concrete curb?
Yes. “Metal curb” and “steel curb” are the everyday names for what City specifications call a steel-faced concrete curb: a concrete curb with a steel plate protecting its exposed face. If someone quotes you a steel curb, a metal curb, or a steel-faced curb, they’re all describing the same thing.
What metal curb services do you offer?
We install new steel-faced curbs, repair damaged or rusted steel facing and the concrete behind it, replace failed curbs, upgrade plain concrete curbs to steel-faced, and build corner curbs with the curved facing that corners require.
Which areas do you serve?
Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Westchester County.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. We’re a licensed and insured contractor, and we provide certificates of insurance on request for commercial properties, co-op boards, and general contractors.
How do I get a quote?
Call us or request a quote online. We’ll come out, inspect the curb, check what the City requires at your address, and send you a written, itemized price.
