Metal Curb Installation in NYC, Built to City Standards
Installing a metal curb in NYC is a different job from pouring a plain concrete one. The steel facing has to be set to the exact line and grade before any concrete goes in, held there while it’s poured, and anchored into the curb so it stays put under decades of truck tires and plow blades. If the steel shifts or isn’t anchored properly, the curb fails inspection and the exposed edge becomes a hazard. We install new steel-faced curbs for construction projects, driveway curb cuts, and commercial frontages, and we confirm what curb type your address requires before quoting.
Set to Line & Grade
The steel is aligned to the curb line and set to the correct height before the pour, so the finished run is straight and flush from section to section.
Anchored to Spec
Facing anchored into the concrete the way the City's standard details require, so it stays tight under heavy traffic.
Edges Finished Properly
Exposed cut steel surfaces ground smooth, and facing finished correctly where the curb meets ramps and flush transitions.

Why Choose Us for Metal Curb Installation in NYC
With a new curb, the expensive mistakes happen before the concrete is poured: the wrong curb type for the zoning district, steel set off the line, or a facing that isn’t anchored the way the City’s details require. Any one of those means doing the job twice.
We install steel-faced curbs across NYC as our main trade, not as an add-on to a bigger concrete job. That means we know what the inspector looks for, and we build for it from the first measurement.

Metal Curb Installation FAQs
Does my NYC property need a steel-faced curb?
In NYC, curb type follows zoning. Plain concrete curbs are permitted only in R-1 through R-6 districts, while steel-faced curbs are required in M and C districts and in R-7 and above. Steel facing is also required at all corners, in every district. We confirm the requirement for your address before quoting, and our steel-faced curb guide explains it in full.
Do I need a permit to install a new curb in NYC?
Yes, curb work in the street requires a DOT permit, and we file it as the contractor. If the project involves a new driveway curb cut, it also needs plans prepared by a licensed architect or engineer and approved by the Department of Buildings before work can start.
How much does metal curb installation cost in NYC?
Cost depends on the length of the run, excavation and base work, the steel facing itself, any driveway apron or sidewalk work, and permit requirements. Steel-faced curbs cost more upfront than plain concrete but last far longer where there’s heavy vehicle traffic. We quote after a site visit.
How long does a new metal curb take to install?
Setting the steel, pouring, and finishing usually takes a few days on site, depending on the length of the run. The concrete then needs time to cure before the curb takes traffic, and we’ll tell you when it’s ready.
Can you install curved or corner curbs?
Yes. Corner quadrants need steel facing in every zoning district and involve curved facing and ramp transitions. See our metal corner curb page for how that work is done.
